Labneh - Yogurt that has been strained to remove most of its whey

Tahina - A condiment made from toasted, ground, hulled sesame

Dukkah - An Egyptian mixture of herbs, nuts and spices

Sumac - A spice having a lovely purple color, a tart flavor reminiscent of lemon

Baharat - Meaning spices in Arabic, contains a balance of spicy, savory, and sweet flavors

Za’atar - Levantine spice blend of sesame, sumac, and herbs

 

Schug- Yemenite sauce made of peppers, cilantro, spices and lemon

Toum - A light sauce with garlic, lemon juice, and extra virgin olive oil

Chermoula - Algerian condiment containing preserved lemon, herbs and garlic

Harissa - North African hot chili pepper paste

Arak - Unsweetened distilled spirit in the anise drinks family

Kofta - Part of the Mizrahi Jewish cuisine, made of minced meat, herbs and spices
